I'll measure your patio, check the slab and talk through what you want the room for.
Request an estimateOntario: older slabs, newer tract backyards
Ontario has two very different kinds of backyards. Closer to the middle of the city, a lot of the houses are older single-story homes with a patio slab and a cover someone added years ago. On the south side toward Eastvale, the neighborhoods are newer tracts with smaller yards, closer neighbors and block walls on every side.
That mix decides what I look at first. On the older lots it's whether the old slab and cover can be built on, and on the newer ones it's how much room there is between the house and the back wall, the same thing I check on jobs over in Chino.
Working in Ontario: permits, licenses and plan review
In Ontario, the city's Building Department issues permits, reviews the plans and sends out the inspector. So whether your room needs a permit is its call, and when it does, plan review usually sets the start date more than our crew does. On those jobs I put the paperwork together, submit it and meet the inspector for each visit. Before you hire anyone, us included, check two things: a current California contractor license and an Ontario business license, which the city requires of contractors whether they're based inside the city or outside it like we are.
What moves the price is mostly the size of the room, glass walls or screens, the kind of roof, and whether your existing slab can carry walls or needs footings first. The schedule turns on plan review, inspections and that same prep work, and I'll go over both for your house when I come out for the estimate. We do the same work over in Riverside and the other cities around Eastvale, and each city's permit office keeps its own pace, so I plan your schedule around Ontario's.

Patio enclosures
Plenty of Ontario houses already have a covered patio that only gets used part of the year. Our patio enclosures close it in with walls and windows, and we fit them to the cover you have when it's sound enough to keep.
Patio-to-sunroom conversion
On the older homes here, the patio is often the one spot that could become a real room without a full addition. We turn it into a sunroom with a roof tied properly into the house, so it feels like part of the home and not a porch with windows.
Patio cover installation
A lot of the newer tract yards come with a bare slab and nothing over it. We put up a cover sized for that yard, and if you think you'll want to close it in someday, I'll plan it so that's easier later.
Four season sunrooms
When a family wants a real extra room off the kitchen or family room, a four season sunroom is usually the answer. We build it insulated and wired like the rest of the house, so you'll actually use it every day.
Screen room installation
Some folks mostly want to sit outside in the evening without the bugs, and for them a full glass room is more than they need. A screen room is simpler and lighter, and I'll tell you honestly if it's the better fit.
Sunroom remodeling
Some older Ontario homes have a sunroom that was added years back and now leaks, sticks or feels drafty. We replace the worn panels, glass or roof and keep what's still good, so you're not paying to start over.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a sunroom cost in Ontario, CA?
Your number comes from the estimate, because the same size room can cost very differently depending on what goes into it. Besides size, walls and roof, the big movers are outlets, lights and a ceiling fan, heating and cooling for a year-round room, matching your house's roofline, and any slab work first. At the visit I'll show you which choices push the price up and which ones you could skip.
How do I know if I need a licensed contractor for a sunroom in Ontario?
You need one if the job needs a building permit, uses hired workers, or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials together, which covers just about any sunroom. That's the rule from the Contractors State License Board. The board does exempt small jobs with no permit, no employees and less than $1,000 total, but a bigger project can't be split into small contracts to slip under that line.
How much can a contractor ask for as a down payment in California?
Under the state board's guidance, no more than $1,000 or 10 percent of the contract price, whichever is less. The other payments are supposed to be listed in the contract and tied to work done or materials delivered, and that applies to home improvement jobs like a sunroom. If someone wants a big check before anything happens, that's worth a second look.
How long does it take to get a sunroom permitted and built in Ontario?
There's no set number, because the city's plan review and inspections set much of the pace, along with how much prep your yard needs before the walls go up. If a plan check or permit needs more time, the first extension costs nothing, but the city charges $150 for each extra one on a residential permit, so we'd rather plan it right the first time. If you want to check on it yourself, the Building Department's number is (909) 395-2023.
Can I turn my existing patio cover into a sunroom in Ontario?
Sometimes, and it's one of the most common questions I get here. A cover built just for shade often doesn't have the posts, beams or slab to carry walls and glass, so we may keep part of it and rebuild the rest. I'd rather tell you that at the estimate than find out halfway through the job.
Should I build a three season or four season sunroom in Ontario?
Pick by how you'll use it, not by which one sounds bigger. If it's a place to sit evenings and weekends, a three season room is usually enough and costs less, and if you want an everyday room with heating and cooling, go four season. I'll ask how you picture using it before I suggest either one.
